PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — After operating less than 18 months in the Coachella Valley, Classic Yellow Cab may already be about to permanently flip on its “out of service” light.
Company officials informed the SunLine Transit Agency board Wednesday that if Classic Yellow Cab doesn’t receive 40 additional cabs or isn’t approved for higher fares, the cab company will terminate valley service at the end of September.
SunLine taxicab administrator Naomi Nightingale said the agency is unable to comply with Classic Yellow Cab’s “ultimatum.”
SunLine allows 180 cabs to serve the Coachella Valley, which is spread among four taxi cab franchises, including 50 cabs to Classic Yellow Cab, Nightingale said.
