Killer of Memphis cabbie found guilty, sentenced to life in prison
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A teenager arrested in 2004 for a series of robberies of cab drivers was convicted Friday of killing one of them with a butcher knife.
Roderick Moore, now 22, was automatically sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder, a verdict reached by a Criminal Court jury after just over two hours of deliberations.
Moore, who was then 17, admitted stabbing veteran driver Robert Adams at least twice with a 5-inch butcher knife during what he said was an altercation over a $32 fare. He said he only had $20.
